In Maileon contacts can have different levels of permission which are described below. These levels can be set on manual add, import or synchronisation or otherwise it is possible to get the permission (confirmation) by triggering a double opt-in (DOI) email.
Permission levels available when setting the permission:
There is no permission, no permission has yet been granted by the customer.
→ Example: New customer, no consent given so far
2. Single opt-in
Permission is granted in one step. In a one-step process, the contact gave their consent to receive newsletters.
→ Example: A customer fills out a competition card at the dealership and confirms that he would like to receive a newsletter. The registration is now considered complete.
3. Confirmed opt-in
With the confirmed opt-in, a confirmation e-mail is sent to the e-mail address after registering for the newsletter. However, this does not contain an additional confirmation link as with the double opt-in, the newsletter registration is valid immediately.
→ Example: After registering for the newsletter in a web shop, the customer receives an email confirming their registration. He has now been successfully registered.
4. Double opt-in (DOI)
In e-mail marketing, double opt-in refers to the procedure whereby each applicant has to confirm the entry of their e-mail address in the distribution list in a second step. He then receives an e-mail to the specified address, including a link with a request for confirmation.
→ Example: After registering for the newsletter in a web shop, the customer receives an email in which he must now confirm his registration again. If this does not happen within the specified period, no registration will take place.
5. Double opt-in including individual user tracking (DOI+)
The procedure here is identical to that of the double opt-in method, but the contact also agrees to the individual user tracking, which is usually done by manually ticking a box when registering for the newsletter. Individual user tracking enables personal tracking and is recommended unless otherwise possible.
→ Example: After registering for the newsletter in a web shop and confirming individual user tracking, the customer receives an email in which they must now confirm their registration again. If this does not happen within the specified period, no registration will take place.
6. Other - different procedure
If no permission can be proven, the "Other procedure" method can be selected. However, this is expressly not recommended. Permission must always be proven.
→ Example: The permission was promised verbally or in writing, but can no longer be proven.
For trigger emails it is possible to enable permission-neutral sendout. This is intended specifically for transactional or service-based emails that do not require specific permission from the recipient.
