In Maileon contacts can have different levels of permission which are described below. These levels can be set on manual add, import or synchronisation or otherwise it is possible to get the permission (confirmation) by triggering a double opt-in (DOI) email.

  1. None
No permission available: it is generally not possible to email contacts without permission.

  2. Single opt-in
Contacts have subscribed themselves or have been subscribed by a third party, but have not confirmed their subscribtion. Confirmation is not required, this level can be used for transactional or service-based mailings. Behaviour (opens and clicks) will not be tracked on user level.

  3. Confirmed opt-in
Contacts have confirmed their subscription but have not given permission for tracking behaviour on individual user level.

  4. Double opt-in
Contacts have confirmed their subscription via a link in a DOI confirmation email sent by Maileon, but have not given permission for tracking behaviour on individual user level.

  5. Double opt-in including consent for single user tracking
Contacts have confirmed their subscription via a link in a DOI confirmation email sent by Maileon and have given permission for tracking behaviour on individual user level.

For trigger emails it is possible to enable permission-neutral sendout. This is intended specifically for transactional or service-based emails that do not require specific permission from the recipient.
