General information

Contact filters are used to segment your contacts and can be used to create distribution lists or to create reports. The "Contact filter overview" start menu shows all currently available contact filters. These can consist of several sub-filters.

Important: The result sets displayed reflect the status at the time of the last update, so they may not be current. Incidentally, as part of a dispatch preparation, updates are carried out in the background. On the right above the filter list there are 4 buttons available: create contact filters, update contact filters, copy contact filters and remove selected contact filters. However, some contact filters cannot be removed: those that are currently being processed and the standard filters: all unsubscribed contacts, all blocked contacts, all contacts, all contacts with an active status, all contacts without permission, all hard bouncers and all soft bouncers.

 

Contact filter list

On the left side you will first find a checkbox for marking and an icon that describes the filter type. With a mouseover you get the information whether it is a “standard contact filter” or a “contact filter” created by the user. The column " Contact filter“Also shows the name of the filter. By clicking on it, you can jump directly to the "Contact filter processing" mask, where you can edit the settings and filters of the selected contact filter and save the changes. The name of the filter, the API ID (unique identifier for the selected filter), the link "Save contact filter as distribution list", the filter type, creation date & author, the currentness in date format with an update link, the score achieved so far at the time are also displayed the last update, the use (if the filter has already been used) and the filter conditions contained.

 

Update of contact filters

Please note: Simply updating contact quantities in the contact list does not update all contact filters.
The relevant contact filters are automatically updated for the following actions:

- a manual update or

- Update requests via API

- Sending of regular e-mailings (distribution list, contained contact filter-based ads)

- Collective dispatch of trigger mailings at contact filter level (distribution list, contained contact filter-based ads)

- contact jobs

- export of contacts

Back to the contact filter overview. In the following column you can see the number of contained sub-filters . The number of individual contacts recorded by the respective filter is displayed under " Contacts ". An individual list of these contacts ("contact hits") can be called up by clicking on the number (email address and, if available, first and last name are displayed). " Share of total number " indicates the proportion of contacts that meet the filter criteria in relation to the total number of contacts as a percentage. In the "Score" columnan asterisk system is used to display a rating of the opening, click and bounce rate. You can optionally adjust the settings for the score base and the threshold values yourself. The corresponding menu can be found under "Settings / Lists & Contacts / Scoring". You will find an explanation of this in the manual chapter "Settings". To the right of the rating, a red exclamation mark for context-related information may appear, for example, indicating an increased average bounce rate. Filter selections based on openings or clicks can be expanded with regard to the operating system, the operating system type, the e-mail client or the e-mail client type. Filter selections based on bounces can be expanded with regard to the bounce code or the bounce type.

 

Filtering by domain type

All contacts are assigned to a domain type based on the domain of their email address. This assignment takes place at daily intervals if required. "Business domains", "Webmailers, ISPs and Telcos", "Bot domains", "Disposable domains" and "Others" can be selected as types. If the domain type of a contact corresponds to a business domain, an industry allocation takes place according to the key of the Federal Statistical Office. If necessary, this enrichment takes place at daily intervals. Branch selections can sometimes be created with up to 3 levels (depending on the depth of the branch structure). Topicality: The last column provides information about how up-to-date the respective contact filter is: a symbol, followed by the date and time of the last update. An exclamation mark with an orange background means that an update is appropriate, a check mark on a green background indicates that the filter is up to date.
